People's Republic of China and Human Rights
Methinks it's dearly necessary. In a shockingly hypocritical move, the People's Republic of China, one of the worst enemies of freedom and democracy, has condemned the United States for gross violation of human rights. I'm not kidding.
Racial discrimination has been on the rise in the United States since the Sept 11 terrorist attacks. Discrimination against Muslims and Arabs is the most serious.
Racial discrimination is extremely popular in China. Hundreds of thousands of Tibetans and ethnic Uighurs have been killed during the illegal Chinese occupation of their land in Western China. Those who are religious, regardless of faith, have been targeted by the Chinese government. (The Falun Gong have received extra attention.)
It also said the Patriot Act, an anti-terrorism law, had led to torture and forced confessions.
Explaining this line, a Chinese official said that "we don't see why an anti-terrorism law is needed to excuse torture and forced confessions. What legislating barbarians you Americans are."
The United States had "frequently committed blunt violations of human rights" of the people of other countries, it said, and pointed to human suffering in the U.S.-led war in Iraq and military action in Afghanistan as examples.
See above, in reference to Tibetans and ethnic Uighurs. If only we were all as peace-loving as the People's Republic of China.
It accused the United States of having a "democracy of the rich" that was not representative of the majority and of excessive violence that "has resulted in ineffective protection of life and security of the person."
It's too bad that our "democracy of the rich" doesn't compare to the Chinese oligarchy, where a wealthy capitalist few control most of the resources and subjugate the masses. Very reminiscent of Orwell's Animal Farm. Isn't it delicious when the Chinese (not to mention the Syrians, Iraqis, Cubans, et al.) criticize the United States as undemocratic?
The report said poverty, hunger and homelessness were growing problems in the United States.
First, this has nothing to do with human rights. Second, they're not growing problems in the People's Republic of China because virtually everyone is poor, hungry, or homeless. There's no more room for growth; China is a mature poor country.
China argues that fundamental human rights demand that feeding, clothing and housing its 1.3 billion people comes first and foremost and individual rights take a back seat to the welfare of society as a whole.
They're really doing a hell of a job of feeding, clothing, and housing all those people. And their "society as a whole" is quite successful, if you ignore a lot of the problems.
Its report accused the United States of executing child offenders and the mentally ill. It said discrimination against women was prevalent and poor management of overflowing jails led to lack of protection of prisoners' rights.
Wait? They're familiar with the term "prisoners' rights?" What about all the political prisoners, both Chinese and foreign, who have never been provided with rights?
First, let me say that the Chinese have developed a great solution to the problem of overflowing jails: execute prisoners by the thousands. Or make them "disappear." See--no more prison overcrowding problem!
The People's Republic of China cares for the mentally ill by drowning them, imprisoning them, or just planting a bullet in the back of the head. And China has no qualms about executing child offenders who really are children (without trial, of course). Either that or they work them in squalid slave labor camps so they can make sneakers for Western companies? Isn't Communism great for the worker?
