No Respect for the Homeless

I was reading old blogs and stumbled on this from 2002:

Chante Mallard, a nursing assistant in Fort Worth, has been charged with murder after running into a homeless man named Gregory Biggs. Mallard drove home with Biggs embedded in the windshield, parked the car in the garage and left him to die over the next two days. Periodically, Mallard dropped in to apologize, but not to do anything while Biggs begged for help. Police believe that Biggs would have lived if treated. After he died, Mallard and some other morally stunted friends dumped Biggs' body into a park.

If that's not enough, here comes the really sickening part: Mallard's attorney, Mike Heiskell, said: "I think this is overreaching on the part of the prosecution and the police and, in the end, I believe the law will shake out that this was simply a case of failure to stop and render aid".

That is so scarey, mistakes happen, but to sit by and let this poor man die is unforgivable.
